Subspace Waves

Subspace waves are ripples that propagate through subspace at approximately 970 times the speed of light, created as a natural consequence by warp drives manipulating spacetime. The ripples are detectable by appropriate receivers in either real space or within subspace, and are the only known medium able to communicate between the two. The extreme rate at which subspace waves propagate is utilized for faster-than-light communications, forming the foundation of interstellar communications via transmitters. Subspace waves are omnidirectional and an unavoidable byproduct of warp drive operations; any spacecraft at warp can be easily tracked across many lightyears.
